The annual Partnership for Success workshop
hosted by Jamaica Link Ministries and Teach with Jamaica
continued in 2009 with great success. Teachers who attended the
previous years were once again invited to take part in the
second phase of the workshop.

Jamaica Link Ministries and
Teach with Jamaica
hosted, for the second year, a
Partnership for Success workshop for early
childhood and primary school educators. the workshop retained
its original focus on math, reading and special education with
the addition of behaviour management. the workshop was held with
the approval and corporation of the Ministry of Education Region
IV.
The workshop was held in three parishes for the schools in those
parishes. The workshop for the parish of St. James was held at
Montego Bay High School on July 8-9. Hanover's workshop was held
at Hopewell High School on July 10-11. For Westmoreland the
workshop took place at Godfrey Stewart High School on July
14-15.

Teach With Jamaica
Team from the USA hosted three one-day workshops, titled
'Partnership for Success',
for early childhood and primary school educators in the parishes of St.
James, Hanover and Westmoreland.
The workshop aimed at equipping teachers with additional
information and strategies for teaching mathematics, reading and
special education. the workshops were held over a three day
period from July 23-27, 2007. schools at the primary level were
asked to send two representatives, one from the lower level
(grades 1-3) and one from the upper level (grades 4-6); early
childhood institutions were asked to send one representative.
With the goal in mind that the representative(s) from the school
would transmit what they learned to the other teachers from
their institution.
Presenters at the workshop included; Karla
Hughes, Tara Malphrus, Shannon
Sparks, Debby Floyd, Kelly Womack, Cathy Taylor, Tia Bonham,
Melissa Ridenour, Nancy Bassett, Margie Flores, Lauren Athey and
Ashley Ulmschneider.

Teach With Jamaica
is Ms. Karla Hughes. Teach Jamaica
is a company based in the United States
whose sole purpose is to collaborate with the teachers and
educational leaders of Jamaica
and become a resource for providing additional teacher training
and educational supplies and resources. At the present time
Teach Jamaica
is in the process of becoming a non-profit organization.

Jamaica Link
Ministry in association with Hillview Baptist Church conducted a
ChristianCommunityDevelopmentConferencewith the theme 'MobilizingChurchestoFocusonCommunityDevelopment'. The conference
was held at Hillview Baptist Church, August 21 -25, with daily
sessions (9am-12pm) and nightly services (7pm-9pm).
The conference

Dr. John M
Perkins - International Speaker, Noted Author and Community
Development Specialist.
Dr.
Perkins founded Mendenhall Ministries in his home town in
Mississippi, the ministry has helped in the development of
various programs focusing on; adult education, housing repair,
youth and many more. In 1972, after moving to Jackson, Dr.
Perkins founded the Voice of Calvary Ministries. Ten years
later he moved to Pasadena and founded the Harabee Christian
Family in Northwestern Pasadena.
With a strong
desire to share the love of Christ with the poor communities
in America, Dr. Perkins co-founded the Christian
CommunityDevelopment Association (1989). He did not stop
there, the increasing violence in inner cities, and the
breakdown of the urban family and community led him to begin
the publication of the 'Urban Family' magazine in 1992.
In 1995 he founded Harambee Preporatory School, with a desire
to provide quality academic training for the children of
poverty level homes. He has served on the Board of Directors
of World Vision, Prison Fellowship and others.
Dr. John Perkins
has been awarded several honourary doctorates from Wheaton
College, Bellhaven College, Northpark College, Geneva College,
Huntington Colledge, Gordon College and Spring Ardor College.
He has authored
nine books; A quiet Revolution, Let Justice Roll Down, With
Justice for All, Beyond Charity, He's My Brother, Resurrecting
Hope and A Time to Heal.
Dr. Richard
Allen Farmer - International Concert Pianist, Worship Leader
and Bible Expositor
Dr. Farmer, born
in New York City and having lived there most of his life, now
resides in Dallas Texas with his wife and son. At age 11 he
began piano studies and at age 12 became a christian. Farmer
now uses his music as a vehicle for inspiring, motivating,
challenging and entertaining the people of God.
A graduate of
Nyack College where he earned the Bachelor of Music Degree
(1975) and Princeton Theological Seminary where he earned the
Master of Divinity degree (1980). He has been awarded the
honorary Doctor of Divinity degree by Gordon Colledge in 1986
and the honorary Doctor of Sacred Theology degree by Houghton
College in 1999. An experienced pastor and college chaplain,
Dr. Farmer has served as Senior Pastor of the Bethany Baptist
Church in Pittsburgh(1980-1988) and as Dean of the Chapel at
both Gordon Colledge (1988-1992) and Taylor University
(1999-2002).
Very much
committed to being a global Christian. Dr. Farmer has
ministered in England, Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan,
Thailand, Australia, Mali, Burkina Faso, Peru, Chile, Cote d'
Ivoire, Kenya, Canada, the Philippines and most the the United
States.
Dr. Farmer
spends most of his time in a church renewal ministry that uses
expository preaching and music to stimulate the worlwidebody
of followers of Jesus Christ, one group at a time.
