JCSD Mission: The basic aim of the Jamaica Christian
School for the Deaf is to develop a well-integrated Christian
person, morally upright, emotionally mature and ready for
the outside world.
In order to do that we strive:
To provide experiences, which will help students
to understand who he or she is, what they are worth in society
and how to maintain and live a Christian life.
To develop the intellect, cultivate skills,
create abilities, to discover talents and promote a sense
of value.
To foster good attitudes that will lead
to social awareness, self-discipline and willingness to
serve with a view to leading useful lives.
How you can help JCSD
Sponsor a child: It costs approximately
$420 per semester to send a student to JCSD. For many deaf
children, JCSD offers them the only chance they will ever
have to get an education and to be treated like a valuable
member of society. Cost is prohibitive for many families.
JCSD covers the tuition by raising support or through individual
child sponsorships. We are currently in need of both.
Send groups specifically tailored to work
with deaf children. We are currently looking for groups
to hold: Drama workshops for our drama club, art workshops,
computer workshops and more. If you have a specific talent
you would like to know if we could use, please ask!
Sponsor a child's snack time : Some children
do not have money for daily snack time. This is a cost the
school simply can not afford to cover for every student.
Cost is about $12 per month.
