| It can be
surprising how difficult Jamaican government agencies make
it to bring a medical missions team onto the island. There
are official documents that need to be submitted, exhaustive
equipment and medication lists that need to be made, a whole
physician registration process to go through -- not to mention
the fees that are required to accomplish these things. The
good news is that all of these requirements are maneuverable
as long as you know the process and start planning far enough
ahead of your trip.
There is a need for medical missions in Jamaica.
Many Jamaicans can't afford the to see a doctor or purchase
the medication they need. There are adults and children that
need what we would consider minor surgeries, but who will
never get them because there is not a specialist close to
where they live or because the cost of the surgery is more
than they can afford.
Jamaica Link Ministries encourages medical missions
groups to rise to the challenge of bringing a team to Jamaica.
We are committed to helping you by giving you the contact
information you will need as well as laying out the process
in a logical manner. We can assist you by finding venues,
chasing down paperwork, and helping you get answers to your
questions as you go through the process.
